When do I get paid?

All employees are paid on the last working day of the month, for that month.

If you are a contractor, you are required to submit your monthly invoice (see the invoice submission process) and it will be paid in the next payables run, either mid month or end of month. If permitted by your jurisdiction, you are welcome to submit your invoice for the current month on or around the 26th of the month to ensure you are paid in the end of month payables run

Why have I paid this amount of tax?

UK taxation

As an employee you are taxed using a system called Pay As You Earn (PAYE). We receive a Tax Code from HMRC that is specific to you. We enter this Tax Code into our payroll system, and that system automatically calculates the income tax and national insurance contributions you must pay. We are not able to adjust this in any way.

You can see your Tax Code on your payslip and on your gov.uk personal tax account. The personal tax account also shows exactly how much tax you've paid this year to date, taking advantage of the new real time reporting of tax. You can learn more about what your Tax Code means here.

<aside> 💡 Did you know that in addition to income tax and national insurance contributions, we must also pay employer national insurance contributions? These are 13.8% of everything you earn above GBP 8,784 per month.
